CPS workers | CASAs | Attorneys | Judges | Foster parents | Direct care staff | Mentors | Biological family | Kinship providers

Picture
  1. Listen to youth talk about what they want to do after high school. Help them explore different careers and understand budgeting. Visit Texas Reality Check to explore different career paths.
  2. Introduce youth to mentors in fields they are interested in and help youth attend any college and career readiness events.
  3. Help a youth figure out if they qualify for a tuition and fee waiver, extended foster care an/or other financial supports. Trying to figure out all the requirements can be confusing. Our favorite resources are the Texas Foster Youth Justice Project, Texas Youth Connection and College for all Texans .
  4. If a youth is interested in college, have them contact the foster care liaison at that college. Set up a time for a visit and explore campus supports.
  5. Sign up for our quarterly newsletter and attend our annual conference.
