CHAMPION SUCCESS FOR FOSTER YOUTH & ALUMNI AT YOUR SCHOOLS

​K-12 Education professionals- It starts with you!
  • Each school district is required by law to have a designated foster care liaison.
  • Every foster care liaison and high school counselor should be familiar with the tuition waiver for foster youth. To help youth utilize the waiver, encourage youth to utilize the waiver for at least one dual credit course during high school.
  • Do not assume that someone in the student's life can help them navigate the college application process. Take on the responsibility yourself.
  • Sign up for our quarterly newsletter and attend our annual conference.

  • Each Texas public institution of higher education is required by law to have a designated foster care liaison.
  • Each year more and more campuses are creating and expanding services for foster alumni. Some promising practices include:
    • Early identification of foster alumni on campus
    • Campus support programs for foster alumni
    • Supportive independent living programs coordinated with DFPS
    • Summer camps/events for foster youth
