Foster Care Liaisons

Foster Care Liaison List

In collaboration with The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Education Reach for Texans welcomes former foster care alumni and/or anyone helping alumni achieve a post-secondary education degree to visit the College for All Texans website and view the Foster Care Liaison List. This list is frequently updated with a representative from most 2-year and 4-year public institutions in Texas who accept the tuition waiver for former foster youth. So, if you are an alumni or your helping someone who is eligible for the waiver, view the list to find the institutions that interest you. Professional contact information for each liaison is listed in the document.

Foster Care Liaison Guide

The Supreme Court of Texas Children's Commission Post-Secondary Education Committee work group created a helpful guide for foster care liaisons in Texas. Most liaisons have serving foster alumni as an additive component to their current role. This guide serves as a tool to introduce liaisons to the basics of benefits and services available for foster care alumni in higher education. It also has important child welfare agency information, as many liaisons are unfamiliar with agency protocol and how children come to be involved in foster care. This guide is not meant to be exhaustive in offering all information about foster care alumni in higher education. However, the committee compiled a list of resources liaisons can explore when they become more familiar with their role.
