Foster care liaisons play an integral role in retaining students and helping them graduate from post-secondary institutions. The role is relatively new, and liaisons might begin their advocacy with little guidance. Education Reach for Texans is a 501c non-profit that for over a decade has offered support to foster care alumni in post-secondary education. Education Reach is also a state and national leader in training foster care liaisons to fulfill their responsibilities.
Why come to the pre-conference workshop? The workshop is facilitated by two foster care liaisons from the Education Reach for Texans Board. They collectively have over a decade of experience serving foster care alumni in higher education.
The session will host liaisons across the state from vocational schools to four-year universities, allowing for important networking and information sharing. The session is also appropriate for individuals, who would like an introduction to foster care and support offered in higher education.
